Dean showcased how he could grow his budding business and roll out air-con to UK homesThe Essex boy, 34, believes he and Apprentice host Lord Sugar will get on well in business because they both rose from humble origins through graft and determination.
Dean, who now wants to be known as “Daddy Cool” after last night’s winning pitch, revealed he had delved deeper into Lord Sugar’s background following his triumph.
He said: “I didn’t realise how similar we were, but we’ve got a lot in common.
“Since winning the series, I’ve been reading his book, and it just felt like he was talking right to me when I was reading it.
“I could relate to everything he said in it.
“Even down to his family. His son and my son were born on the day. It was all feeling like destiny.
“Lord Sugar is of course leagues ahead, and I can’t imagine it’s too easy to get where he is.
“But Lord Sugar is a big fish, so why can’t I be a big fish, too?”
He even said he hopes to follow Lord Sugar’s path as host of The Apprentice, saying: “I’ll take his seat! It would be a dream come true.”
Viewers last night saw Dean go head to head with Ansia, 26 — with the duo pitching their business plans which were handed over at the start of the process.
Ansia, who launched her own fusion restaurant serving Indian- inspired pizza, impressed Lord Sugar and his team, Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell.
Ansia also created an advert and logo to sell her takeaway dreams, aided by some of this year’s candidates including Chisola Chitambala, Frederick Afrifa and Melica Moshiri.
Meanwhile Dean — whose team included Liam Snellin and Mia Collins — showcased how he could grow his budding business and roll out air-con to UK homes.
He stepped out to Boney M hit “Daddy Cool” ahead of his pitch, a nickname that he is continuing to use after it made Lord Sugar laugh.
Dean said: “That’s what I am, a dad with an air-con business. That’s going to be my theme tune now everywhere I go.
“Lord Sugar is funny, I’ve always found his wisecracks funny, and I was trying to crack my own and show a bit of my personality.
“It’s a serious situation, but a bit of humour goes a very long way.”
