24-year-old tennis player Kamilla Rakhimova changed her Russian citizenship and will perform under the flag of Uzbekistan.
This was reported by the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan:
“Camilla’s family has a connection with Uzbekistan: her mother, Rufina Rakhimova (née Yalalova), in her youth was one of the strongest tennis players of her age category and played for the Uzbek SSR. Kamilla’s older brother, Timur, was born in Tashkent. These family roots make Rahimova’s decision to represent Uzbekistan particularly symbolic.
Rakhimov is still without a flag on the WTA website. In the updated world ranking, Camilla ranks 112th.
The change of citizenship from Russian to Uzbek is not the first case in the WTA Tour. In October 2025, this was done by Maria Timofeeva.
