– I ask this question to many American players: how do you feel about playing under the USA flag now?

– I was born in the USA, so I was always proud to represent my country. Many of us are doing well now and it’s great to see so many strong athletes in both women’s and men’s tennis. I think we all do a great job of representing ourselves.

– To clarify a little: in view of everything that happened in the USA in the last year, does it complicate your feelings?

– I do not consider it appropriate.

– Returning to the previous question: now the USA is a rather divided country. Do you find it difficult or distracting to perform under the American flag in such a situation?

– I do not plan to change citizenship or represent another country. I was born in the US, so it doesn’t even cross my mind.
