Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk expressed his displeasure with the fact that Israel rejected Kyiv’s previous proposals for cooperation in the fight against Iranian drones.

The Times of Israel writes about it.
It comes a day after one such drone, launched by Lebanon’s Hezbollah, attacked a military base, killing four soldiers and wounding dozens of others.

In an interview with the Ynet news portal, Korniychuk recalled that in February 2023, he handed over the remains of the Iranian drone that attacked Kyiv to the office of the Prime Minister of Israel. Then he warned that without cooperation with Ukraine, such drones could soon threaten Israel itself.

“I don’t want to say, ‘I told you so,’ but the situation is obvious,” Korniychuk noted. He has previously criticized Israel for its reluctance to provide defensive weapons to Ukraine after the Russian invasion began in 2022, accusing Jerusalem of “close cooperation” with Moscow. The ambassador also emphasized that both Ukraine and Israel are now facing the same enemy, pointing to the ties between Russia and Iran.
“After the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the country began to realize the threat, but there is still a lot of work to be done,” he added.
Korniychuk also noted that Ukraine uses explosive drones to destroy enemy drones with minimal costs. Over the past six months, the Ukrainian military managed to intercept 80-90% of Iranian drones, which Russia launched from 15 to 80 every day during September.
