“Brodsky did not specify how many systems have received Ukraine”, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org
“We received the Patriot system from the United States then (in the early 90’s). And, by the way, these systems are now in Ukraine. These are Israeli systems that were armed with Israel in the early 1990s. We agreed to pass them on to Ukraine. And, unfortunately, they didn’t talk much about it. But when they say that Israel did not help military plan, it is not. It’s not true, ”the diplomat said.
Brodsky did not specify how many systems Ukraine received and when it happened.
As for other probable military assistance, the ambassador did not want to speak because they are “sensitive topics”.
In January, in an interview with Radio Liberty, Michael Brodsky stated that Israel was supporting Ukraine, but does not provide it with military support for “various reasons”, the main thing is the unwillingness to violate contacts with Russia.
“On the issue of military support of Ukraine – yes, Israel does not provide military support to Ukraine. For various considerations, the main reasoning is the unwillingness to break our contacts with Russia, the unwillingness to threaten our safety, because we understand that this can lead to very serious consequences for the safety of Israel, ”he said then.
In April, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to buy ten Patriot Air Defense Systems to protect some cities. At the same time, he noted that he did not understand why it was not possible to agree on additional Patriot systems for Ukraine.
