Russian dictator Vladimir Putin believes most in control and intimidation, said CIA Director William Burns, who will leave his post after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, in an interview with NPR.
Burns, who was the US ambassador to Russia, flew to Moscow in 2021 to try to dissuade the Kremlin regime from invading Ukraine.

The director of the CIA noted that the long-term experience of communicating with the Russian dictator shows that Putin is a supporter of control and intimidation, he treats those around him with deep suspicion and is always looking for vulnerabilities that he can exploit.
According to Burns, the new administration of the US president should provide Ukraine with enough leverage so that possible peace negotiations take place not only on Putin’s terms. He emphasized that it is necessary to further force Russia to bear the costs “so that Putin understands that time is not necessarily on his side, as he believes today.”
