Almost 5 million Ukrainians have benefited from the “Affordable Medicines” program

During the period of operation of the “Affordable Medicines” program, almost 5 million residents of Ukraine have benefited, and now it includes more than 500 drugs.

First Deputy Minister of Health Serhii Dubrov said this at a forum dedicated to the reimbursement program for medicines, Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Affordable Medicines” is an important program for ensuring Ukrainians’ access to medicines. Almost 5 million Ukrainians have used this program, and new users appear every day. Today, the program includes more than 500 drugs… In the near future, 10 more international non-patented names for the treatment of behavioral and mental disorders will be added to the “Available Medicines”, – said Dubrov.

He added that more than 15,000 pharmacies and drugstores cooperate with the NSZU in the reimbursement program.

Last year, the license conditions were changed, each pharmacy on the territory of the health care facility is obliged, in accordance with the license conditions, to conclude an agreement with the National Health Service,” said the First Deputy Minister.

According to him, mobile pharmacies have been introduced in small settlements in 10 regions, which also dispense drugs under the “Affordable Medicines” program.

In addition, a joint project of the Ministry of Health and Ukrposhta is also designed to provide the population with access to medicines, primarily in front-line communities. In the near future, this project will be extended to the entire territory of Ukraine.

For comparison, UAH 5.2 billion was allocated to the reimbursement program this year.

As reported by Ukrinform, the “Affordable Medicines” program was introduced in 2017, and in 2019 it was transferred to the administration of the National Health Service of Ukraine.
