On the night of December 16, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 49 Shahed attack drones and drones of other types from the regions of Bryansk and Oryol (RF), the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

“As of 08:30, the downing of 27 Shahed attack UAVs and drones of other types in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions has been confirmed,” the message says.

In addition, according to the Air Force, due to the “active opposition of the Defense Forces”, another 19 Russian drones did not reach their goals and were “locationally lost”.

Three more drones remain in the air, the Armed Forces noted.

“No hits were recorded, no information about destruction or casualties was received,” the message says.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes committed by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are targeted.
