Air defense of Ukraine during the Russian attack on the night of October 19 detected and shot down the Kh-69 cruise missile with a cluster warhead for the first time. This was reported by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army South, Serhiy Bratchuk.
According to him, submunitions — metal balls — may remain at the crash site. Bratchuk urged not to touch them and to call the emergency services.
It is known that the Kh-69 missiles have a length of 4.2 m and a mass of 710 kg. The range is up to 400 km. The troops of the Russian Federation received them for service in 2023.

The main carrier of the Kh-69 missiles, for which their specific square shape of the hull was developed, is the most modern fifth-generation Russian Su-57 fighters, which Russia has so far rarely used in Ukraine due to their value and small number.
However, according to Russian developers, the winged X-69 can also be mounted on the external suspension of fourth-generation aircraft, including the Su-35, Su-30MK, Su-34, MiG-35, MiG-29K and others.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of October 19, the Russian military used more than 100 targets against Ukraine — about 98 drones and six missiles. Air defense shot down four Kh-59/69 missiles and 42 drones. 46 Russian drones were lost in location.
