“Most likely, a fundamental change in the perception of US policy is related to fairer statements by the US President during July on the war and the ways of its completion. However, the events after August 6 and the planning of D. Trump and V. Putin’s meeting, most likely, have a significant impact on the US policy.
Sociologists point out that the attitude of Ukrainians to Europe has not changed – most respondents (63%) continue to believe that Europe remains a reliable ally who wants to end the war for Ukraine. They do not consider it – 27%.
It is reported that in all regions, most believe that Europe remains a reliable ally, although confidence is slightly reduced from west to east – from 70% to 55%. At the same time, the US policy in all regions of thought has been divided and there are many who consider the United States a reliable ally and those who do not consider it.

The study lasted from July 23 to August 4. The method of telephone interviews on the basis of a random sample of mobile numbers interviewed 1022 respondents aged 18 years, who at the time of the survey lived in the territory of Ukraine, which is controlled by the Government of Ukraine.
The sampling did not include residents of territories that are temporarily controlled by the authorities of Ukraine (at the same time some of the respondents – IDPs who moved from the occupied territories), and did not conduct surveys with citizens who left abroad after February 24, 2022.
Formally, in normal circumstances, the statistical error of sampling of 1022 respondents (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect 1.3) does not exceed 4.1%. At the same time, in order to avoid the effect of the effect of the answers, half of the respondents asked questions about Europe, half of the respondents – about the United States. Thus, 494 respondents answered the question about Europe’s policies, and 528 respondents, which gives an error no more than 5.8%.
Under the war, in addition to the formal error, some systematic deviation is added, but sociologists believe that the results obtained still allow to analyze the public sentiment of the population.
Prehistory:
- On July 14, Trump threatened to introduce “tough duties” in the amount of “about 100%” on Russian goods, unless a war on the termination of the war in Ukraine is not reached within 50 days.
- Before that, the US President perhaps for the first time in doubt that the ruler of the Russian Federation “seeks peace” and said that Putin was saying “many nonsense”.
- He also confirmed that he intends to send Ukraine different types of weapons, including Patriot, which will be “fully paid”.
- On July 28, Trump voiced a new deadline for Putin’s Kremlin ruler to resolve the war against Ukraine.
