“Peaceful” tour of Viktor Orban – what is known

On July 2, Orban visited Ukraine, which was his first visit in 12 years. In Kyiv, he met with Volodymyr Zelenskyi and offered him an idea ceasefire” for the sake of faster negotiations with the Russian Federation. He stated that Ukraine’s peace initiatives “require a lot of time”, and that’s why asked Zelenskyi to think about whether it is possible to do otherwise: first stop the fire, and then hold peace talks.”

In response to this, the deputy head of the President’s Office, Ihor Zhovkva, stated that “Hungary is not the first country to talk about such a scenario.” Zhovkva made it clear that Zelensky actually rejected such proposals: he listened to Orban, “but in response he stated his position, which is clear and known to everyone.”
