“We have to concentrate on quick deliveries at the moment,” said the diplomat, expressing hope for “strong decisions” by the allies, in particular, the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range weapons.
The minister is convinced that “the provision of Taurus missiles by Germany could significantly affect the situation.”
“The decision to provide Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles is one of those elements that can significantly affect the situation on the battlefield… In combination with other systems, they can actually be the factor that fundamentally changes the situation on the battlefield,” Sibiga emphasized.
At the same time, he emphasized that “in terms of the use of long-range weapons, we are talking exclusively about military facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation.”
When asked about the dispute in the German government regarding the allocation of an additional 3 billion euros for weapons for Ukraine, Sybiga answered: “Ukraine welcomes any additional contribution that already today contributes to strengthening our capabilities.”
He also urged not to forget that “the future and security of Europe are being decided in Ukraine, the future security architecture is being formed”, and he also drew attention to Russia’s attempts to use the political processes that are currently taking place in many countries “for their own benefit”.
“We will do everything to end the war as soon as possible,” the minister assured and expressed his belief that achieving a “just, sustainable, comprehensive and lasting peace” is not only the desire of the Ukrainian people, but also in global interests.
Speaking about the inauguration of Donald Trump, Sybiga called the period after January 20 “a chance, a dynamic, an additional opportunity for Ukraine” to speed up the achievement of peace. He is convinced that “this is a common goal of Ukraine and the United States and that the views on achieving this goal coincide.”
President-elect Donald Trump is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20.
Earlier, on January 7, during his first press conference, the US president-elect, answering a question about the possibility of his meeting with the Russian president, said: “I can’t tell you this, but I know that Putin would like to meet.”
During the election campaign, the newly elected president said that he could end Russia’s war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office. Trump said at a press conference that he hopes to end hostilities within six months.
“I hope much sooner than six months,” Trump said when asked if he could resolve the war within six months.
