On Monday, October 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Stavka. The main topic was the reports of the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Main Directorate of Intelligence on Russia’s strategic plans for autumn and winter.
The president announced this on his Telegram channel.
“Conducted the Stavka. A few questions. Among the main ones was the intelligence report on the intentions of the Russians for autumn and winter. Everything is quite detailed. In fact, the inclusion of North Korea in the war. Also Russia’s relations with some other countries, which, unfortunately, are investing in prolonging the war,” Zelenskyy said.
They also discussed the foreign policy direction, in particular, Ukraine’s relations with its partners and possible steps that will help in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
Zelensky thanked the intelligence and all involved specialists for the “full picture”. It is noted that in response the head of state gave specific tasks for the Defense Forces, Security Forces, government and diplomats.
“No matter who helps Russia, we will react as harshly as is necessary to protect Ukraine. Our work with partners will also be appropriate so that Russian intentions do not work. And it is possible. That’s how it will be,” the president added.
Earlier on October 14, Zelenskyi said that the North Korean regime is transferring not only weapons, but also people to Russia.
Involvement of the DPRK in the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine
On June 18, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin arrived in Pyongyang to meet with dictator Kim Jong Un. It was Putin’s first visit to the capital of North Korea since 2000.
During the meeting, Putin and Kim Jong Un signed an agreement on “comprehensive strategic partnership”, seeking to expand economic and military cooperation and strengthen “united front” against Washington. According to the agreement, the Russian Federation and the DPRK undertook to provide “mutual assistance” in case of “aggression” against one of the countries.
On October 4, The Times, citing Western intelligence, reported that half of the approximately three million artillery shells used by Russia come to the aggressor from North Korea.
On October 8, the Yonhap News agency published a statement by South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who said that the DPRK is likely to send its military to Ukraine to support Russia.
On the same day, the Minister’s statement was commented on at the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. According to Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the CSDP of the NSDC, the DPRK has already sent its troops to Ukraine.
Earlier, a number of Ukrainian mass media, citing intelligence sources, reported that as a result of a missile attack on the territory occupied by the Russian Federation near Donetsk on October 3, more than 20 military personnel, including six officers from North Korea, were killed. Three more servicemen of the DPRK were wounded.
On October 11, the report of the Institute for the Study of War reported that several thousand North Korean soldiers are already preparing for war against Ukraine, and they may be transferred to the front by the end of the year.
