“The tanker that lost control is drifting north of the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea. According to the Maritime Emergency and Rescue Service, which is working at the scene, the tanker is carrying about 99,000 tons of oil,” the newspaper writes.
According to reports, it is about the tanker Eventin, which sails under the flag of Panama. The 248-meter-long vessel loaded oil in the Russian port of Ust-Luga and set off on January 6. The final destination was Port Said in Egypt.
“The tanker Eventin is 18 years old, and it is part of the so-called Russian “shadow fleet”, with the help of which Russia circumvents Western sanctions introduced due to the war in Ukraine,” the message reads.
