The highest, fifth level of danger has been declared over the southeastern part of Luzon, particularly in the province of Catanduanes and the coastal areas of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
The consequences of the approaching natural disaster are already felt throughout the country. The civil aviation regulator announced the cancellation of more than 300 domestic and international flights
Locals have been sharing videos on social media, particularly on the X platform, showing worsening weather conditions: strong winds tearing branches from trees and large waves already beginning to inundate the coast.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the Philippines has not yet recovered from the effects of the previous natural disaster. “Fung-Wong” approached the country only four days after Typhoon Kalmaegiwhich claimed 204 lives and left behind significant destruction before moving on to Vietnam. There, it caused the death of five more people and devastated coastal communities.
