The event happened in early November 2024, when the girl went to the courtyard of the university in Tehran, after she was beaten for “improperly” wearing a hijab. After that, she was detained and charged with “indecent behavior.”
According to information, this act was an act of protest. A student of Azad Islamic University became a victim of violence by university security officers and representatives of a pro-government youth organization. During the detention, the student was hit with her head on the car door.
After the incident, she was hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic, where, according to an official representative of the Iranian judiciary, a mental illness was detected. However, human rights activists sharply condemned the actions of the Iranian authorities and called for the immediate release of the woman.
As a result, the Iranian authorities decided not to press charges in connection with her protest, claiming that the girl suffers from mental disorders.
