Russian occupation forces continue targeted attacks on civilian logistics of Ukraine, in particular on objects and transport of JSC “Ukrposhta”.
On January 15, 2026, the general director of the company, Ihor Smilyanskyi, announced another terror attack on the border region of Sumy, where an enemy drone targeted a postal operator’s car. This is the fifth car of the company hit by the enemy in this region in recent months. Despite the damage to the vehicle, the crew remained unharmed and after quick repair of the wheels was able to return to the base thanks to the help of local residents.
In parallel with the attack on Sumy Oblast, civilian infrastructure in the south of the country came under attack. On the night of January 15, the Russian army shelled the village of Novomykolaivka in the Zaporizhia region, as a result of which the building of the local branch of “Ukrposhta” suffered significant destruction. All the windows in the room were broken and the walls were damaged, but the postmen, together with the local authorities, have already found a temporary solution to continue work. As early as tomorrow, the department will resume providing services in a new building so that residents of the front-line zone are not left without pensions and social benefits.
Systematic shelling of postal crews and offices is part of Russia’s strategy to destabilize the humanitarian situation in Ukraine. The Russian military is using drones to hunt down civilian transport in an attempt to disrupt the logistics chains that provide people with the essentials. However, “Ukrposhta” continues to work even in the most difficult conditions, demonstrating stability and the ability to quickly restore functions in the frontline areas.
The Prosecutor’s Office informed about the suspicion of a 25-year-old resident of Kyiv, who set fire to a branch of JSC “Ukrposhta”.
We will remind that in November 2025 Kyiv law enforcement officers reported about the suspicion of a 21-year-old resident of the capital, who, being delusional, set fire to the “Ukrposhta” post office on Yuriy Ilyenka Street.
