The head of the commissar, Oleksandr Syrskyi, published a post about the situation in Kurshchyna the other day, which was commented on by People’s Deputy Maryana Bezugla, saying that she saw in this report intentions to withdraw troops from there. Ivan Stupak, a military expert and former employee of the SBU, shared his opinion on the course of the Kursk operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Radio NV.

He noted that although the figures in Syrskyi’s post, in particular about the losses of the Russian Federation, are impressive, Ukraine is losing a lot by continuing to hold these territories.

[В дописі Сирського немає] no hint that this operation is winding down. This is a kind of resume, a report on the work done in three months. My deep conviction: we are losing people there, we are losing equipment. Western analysts estimated that during this time we lost 300 units of various equipment on the fronts of the Kursk region. We lost approximately 30% of the territory that we previously controlled,” the military expert commented.

At the same time, Stupak emphasized, we are losing cities in eastern Ukraine:

“We have been holding the Kursk region exclusively for political purposes for three months, and during this time, in October alone, we lost three settlements in the east of Ukraine: Kurakhivka, Selidove, Vugledar. I think it is more than serious. Plus the city of Kurakhove, a very threatening situation. You don’t have to be a great analyst, [щоб зрозуміти]that the city of Kurakhove may be surrounded this month, and our military will have to leave there, as they left Vugledar.”

Therefore, the expert concluded, it is necessary to consider what we will gain in the Kursk region and what we will lose on the territory of Ukraine:

“That is, here is the question of the resources that are invested in the Kursk region and the result that we have, and the resources that, as a residual principle, are invested in other directions in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.”

On October 16, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the victory plan involves continuing operations on the territory of Russia and strengthening the offensive potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On October 31, he announced that Russia had deployed about 45,000 of its troops in the Kursk region. Moreover, at the beginning of the operation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, there were only a few thousand Russian soldiers in this region.

On November 5, Suspilne, citing sources in the special services, reported that the first combat clashes took place in the Kursk region between Ukrainian and North Korean military personnel, who were sent to that direction.

On November 7, the DeepState analytical project reported that Russian troops had launched a new wave of offensive operations in the Kursk region.
