On the morning of October 30, 2025, a strong storm broke out in the Carpathian highlands.
According to the report of mountain rescuers of Prykarpattia, on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi, gusts of south-west wind reached a speed of up to 29 m/s.
At the same time, the temperature at the top was about -1°C.
Mount Pip Ivan is one of the highest peaks of the Carpathians, its height reaches 2028.5 meters. On its top, the ruins of the Polish astronomical and meteorological observatory, known as the “White Elephant”, have been preserved, partially restored for tourist needs.
The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology predicts changeable cloudiness with occasional light rain in lowlands and wet snow in mountainous areas on October 30.
The daytime temperature in Ivano-Frankivsk will vary from 15 to 17 degrees Celsius, in the region – from 12 to 17 degrees, and in the highlands – from 2 to 7 degrees Celsius.
Hydrometeorologists warned of dangerous gusts of westerly wind of 15-20 m/s, which declared the first (“yellow”) danger level. Residents and tourists are urged to be careful in open spaces and in the mountains.
