“The events that unfolded around the publication of “Economic Truth” about the meeting in KSE, where, under the moderation of Timothy Milovanov, a meeting of Andrei Yermak took place with students, became something more than just a journalistic scandal.”, – WRITE: www.pravda.com.ua
It is a manifestation of deep tectonics that changes our society. At first glance, it was a conflict. But if you look more closely, we will see the clash not of “righteous” and “guilty”, but of different ethical systems, each of which acted ethically – within the framework of our own rules.
Both Timothy Milovanov, as the organizer and Yermak’s communicators, acted in accordance with the rules of confidentiality they considered fundamental. And the EP journalists acted properly and boldly, because their ethics requires openness in issues of public interest. No one was wrong in their logic, but the parties faced the real one – the only space.

This is the main feature of our time: the world has become divergent, and it requires a new approach to interaction.
Three dimensions of divergent Our world is no longer working according to the old rules. We enter a new era where all information is open. Today you no longer need to “steal” your data to find out what you would prefer to hide. Artificial intelligence will fill the “gaps” on indirect data, even if you try to leave as little digital traces as possible.
This digital transparency destroys the illusion of privacy, forcing us to learn to live in a world where any information can become public. It changes the nature of the reputation: now it is not formed from what you have illuminated (and what you hid), but from how you act in the open space.
In parallel with this, a new group of people appeared in society – the perinasions. This is not a question of age or belonging to the guns (the theory of generations does not work) – even on the cardboard Maidan there were people of all ages. This is not only a digital era and digital behavior. This is a question of a new worldview. Perinas are people who think not categories of “eternal” institutes, but categories “here and now”, think globally, are included in many commuters, light, emotional and infantile.
What seems to be uncertain or “ethics” is just a different ethics. I call the eating communities: “Mercury” – try to keep mercury within standard rules for metals. The mercury will find the holes to escape from the palm.
Given the new “mercury ethics”, the increase in the value of human life on the background of the trick of the world – new realities appear:
The unimportment of formalities: This is a world without ties, without diplomas and CV, where your skills and actions mean more than your certificates.
Flexibility and adaptability: The profession is not a sentence for life, it can be changed, you can move. There is no retirement calculation. But an important norm is responsibility for your own health and life.
Value of different: It is an understanding that anyone can have their own rules and that’s normal. There will be an audience that agrees to your terms. But if you want to go beyond your “bubble”, you will have to adapt or manage the behavior of others.
This divergage also changes key institutions. The role of the university is no longer reduced to “teach” or “give a diploma”. Now it is a space of self -development and human support throughout life. Similarly, the role of media is not just to inform, but to be an honest discussion. The publication of the EP, in fact, has become a catalyst for a discussion that makes us think about the new rules of the game.
It’s time to negotiate I was interested in exploring how different “bubbles” in society were treated with this situation. Our research showed that 72.7% of Ukrainians, acquaintances with the situation (sample: 635 respondents, survey were conducted in the period 15-18 of August) supported the publication with the content of the event in the EP.
It is not just statistics – it is a signal that most people already experience this new ethics, even if they cannot formulate it.
We cannot afford to split. Now we need the most – unite and match. But for this we have to re -agree. We need a new social contract that recognizes and legalizes this divergent.
So we need:
- Re -learning to interpret social norms.
- Develop a mechanism for coordination of rules in conditions where everyone has their own ethics.
- To cherish fundamental values that should remain unchanged, even when everything is changing: trust, punctuality, good attitude towards each other. The value of human life and freedoms.
This new world, without ties and old formalities, may seem chaotic, but it gives us a chance to build a more open, honest and adaptive society. The main thing is not to quarrel, but to learn to understand each other better, because only in this way we will be able to prepare for an unbound phase transition.
