Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov announced a quick announcement of candidacy for the post of military ombudsman. He will deal with the protection of the rights of military personnel.
The minister stated this at a briefing in Kyiv, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“We worked on proposing a military ombudsman. We focused this year to work out how many complaints and lawsuits there were (if I’m not mistaken, several thousand, we worked out). Currently, we are already preparing several candidates to make an announcement about who will be the military ombudsman,” Umyerov said.
According to him, the agency wants to protect the rights of servicemen. In particular, Umerov emphasized the importance of working with the VRP, other law enforcement agencies, and the Main Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense.
“We are working in this direction, we will announce it soon,” the minister added.
We will remind you that in September 2023, President Zelenskyi announced the creation of a military ombudsman institute in Ukraine.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov and the Chief of the General Staff Anatoliy Bargylevych held a meeting with the military to discuss the urgent needs of the Ukrainian army and further steps to modernize it.
