The perpetrator, against whom criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Infringement on the life of a law enforcement officer), will be in custody for the period of the pre-trial investigation.
The incident happened on September 14 around one o’clock in the morning in the village of Oleshin of the Khmelnytskyi territorial community. A man, while driving a vehicle in a state of alcohol intoxication, fired 60 bullets from a Kalashnikov assault rifle at two police cars.
As a result of the shooting, a 22-year-old police officer was seriously injured, and a passenger in the violator’s car received a bullet wound.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Infringement on the life of a law enforcement officer). At the request of the investigator, the court chose a preventive measure for the perpetrator in the form of detention for the period of the pre-trial investigation.
