Zelensky commented on the latest events / UNIAN photoUkraine is at a “critical moment”, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking at the Crimean Platform parliamentary summit in Stockholm.
“We are working closely with the United States, European partners, many other countries, defining steps to end this war of Russia against Ukraine and bring real security. There is a lot of noise in the media, a lot of political pressure. Putin wants legal recognition of what he stole, to break the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty. This is the biggest problem, you all understand what that means. He wants it not only from Ukraine, he wants it from the whole world. And this very dangerous,” Zelenskyi said.
He added that Ukraine has coordinated with the US a number of steps that allow extremely important issues to be kept on the negotiating table. In particular, it is about the complete release of all Ukrainian prisoners under the all-for-all formula, as well as civilians and children abducted by Russia.
“These are important steps, but in order to achieve real peace, more is needed. We will continue to work with our partners, primarily from the United States, looking for compromises that will strengthen, not weaken, us. And we will continue to explain how dangerous it is to pretend that aggression can be ignored, as if everything is “defeated” by itself,” Zelenskyy added.
Peace talks: important newsEarlier, Reuters journalists reported that as early as this week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi may travel to the United States and discuss with Donald Trump “the most sensitive issues of the peace plan, such as the territorial issue.”
Meanwhile, the Financial Times writes that if Ukraine makes concessions in the entire territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as required by the peace plan, Putin will be able to get what he has not been able to seize by military means since 2014. It is noted that such a concession will be extremely controversial and destabilizing for Ukraine, which will also serve the interests of the Kremlin.
