In the Dnipropetrovsk region, law enforcement officers exposed a group of people who were collecting data on F-16 military aircraft for the enemy.
Source: Office of the Prosecutor General, SBU
Details: According to the investigation, the serviceman, being pro-Russian, agreed to provide assistance to an employee of the intelligence center of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
He collected and transmitted data on the deployment, movement of units and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of Dnipropetrovsk and other regions, the location of authorities and military management bodies for launching missile and air strikes.
The enemy’s priority task was to establish the location of personnel and military equipment of the Ukrainian army, including the basing of F-16 fighter jets.
The prosecutor’s office notes that in order to obtain information, the suspect “covertly” involved three familiar military personnel – he told them that he worked for the Ukrainian special services. They kept in touch through a chat in the Telegram messenger.
The men were detained in Dnipropetrovsk region. During the search of their places of residence, material evidence was seized, which confirms illegal activities in favor of the aggressor state.
Depending on the crimes committed, one of the defendants was charged with treason committed under martial law, and the other three with unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces.
It is reported that all four suspects are currently under preventive measures. One of them was detained without bail, the others were taken into custody with bail set.
At the same time, the SBU claims that 12 Russian agents and their informants were active in the network. Some of them are deserters who voluntarily left the units of the Armed Forces, and when they were hiding from justice, they were recruited by the Russian special service.
The members of the enemy cell acted separately from each other and focused on the resident (head) of the agent group, who was located in the Dnipropetrovsk region. For the conspiracy, he used forged “cover documents”, such as a fake “volunteer certificate” and “anti-corruption activist”, the special service added.
Verbatim SBU: “Military counter-intelligence of the Security Service exposed the entire enemy cell early, detained the organizer and informed his key accomplices of the suspicion. Currently, the issue of announcing the suspicion to other members of the network is being resolved.”
