A fire is raging near “Azovstal” in Mariupol – the city council

In Mariupol, Donetsk region, occupied by Russian troops, a large-scale fire has been raging from the side of the Azovstal metallurgical plant since the evening of Sunday, September 29, the city council reports.

The agency noted that “the Russian invaders have not yet reported the causes and consequences of the fire.”

It is also reported that large-scale fires have broken out in the city in recent months, in particular, the biggest park of Mariupol – named after Hurov – was on fire.

The city council added that fires mainly occur due to unremoved dead trees.

Mariupol was occupied by Russian troops in the spring of 2022 after a long siege and street fighting. The city was heavily destroyed. Currently, it is located at a considerable distance from the front line, but Ukrainian forces periodically launch rocket attacks on military facilities in Mariupol.
