A fire broke out on the territory of the National Center for Nuclear Research in Poland. Two people were injured, the MARIA nuclear research reactor was not threatened by the fire, the Polish publication RMF 24 reported, writes UNN.

Details

The fire at the National Center for Nuclear Research in Otwock near Warsaw happened on Wednesday before lunch.

As the RMF FM correspondent found out, there was a gas explosion in a laboratory rented by a third-party company.

Two people were injured as a result of the fire.

Firefighters have already brought the fire under control. 40 firefighters participated in the extinguishing.

“It is important that there is no radiological risk. The fire occurred at a considerable distance from the MARIA research reactor,” the message reads.

The National Center for Nuclear Research is one of the largest research institutes in Poland, with, among other things, the only MARIA nuclear research reactor in Poland. Science and Technology Park “Świerk” is an organizational unit of NCBJ.
