UNIAN collage / photo instagram/yurina_yuyuYuliya Yurina, a singer from the band “Yuko”, who is a citizen of Russia and has been trying to get a Ukrainian passport for a long time, told what stage this process is at.
In an interview with BLIK.ua, the artist admitted that she had submitted documents to the State Migration Service several times, but she was constantly told that the package of papers was incomplete. While Yulia was engaged in drawing up additional documents, new rules were adopted in the service, so she had to start everything from scratch:
“Furthermore, I tortured the migrants so much that they posted on Facebook how Yulia Yurina can get citizenship. There are only 4 points. One of them is the point about the state interest for Ukraine. And in order to prove that I am important for Ukraine, some ministry must vouch for me. In my case, it is the Ministry of Culture.”
According to the singer, more than a year ago she submitted a request to the Ministry of Culture, and six months later they answered that her question was being dealt with by “interested” bodies, so we had to wait for an answer.
“Since then, nothing new. I asked several people’s deputies to submit a request about me to the Ministry of Culture. Some of them promised me to do it in order to move this story from its place. Probably, if I am a natural person, then I can be ignored. If the request already comes from a people’s deputy, then it can no longer be ignored and an official answer must be given,” Yurina added.
The last time the girl applied was 3-4 months ago, and then in December 2025. The ministry officials she called kept asking to call back the next day:
“My current citizenship status is ‘call back tomorrow.’
