“In the Kursk region, Russian soldier Dmitry Stenkin was sentenced to life imprisonment for a brutal attack on a large family, which led to the murder of a mother, wounding of her husband, and an attempt to kidnap children”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
The Radio Liberty Sibir.Realii project wrote about this crime in the spring.
On the night of April 30, 2025, in the village of Girya, Kursk region, which was recaptured from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Private Dmytro Stenkin attacked the house of the Larin family with many children. He shot 41-year-old Olesya, wounded her husband Igor, and kidnapped two girls aged six and 10. The court report states that the contract worker tried to rape Olesya Larina, but when he faced resistance, he started shooting with a machine gun.
Stenkin tried to kidnap the children because he was afraid that they would recognize him. The military man planned to take the girls out of the village under the pretext of evacuation, but he was detained and sent to custody.
Dmytro Stenkin was charged with several criminal counts, including the murder of two or more persons and the abduction of children. He will serve the first eight years of his sentence in prison, the rest in a special regime colony.
Previously, Dmytro Stenkin was repeatedly convicted in cases of rape, assault on a police officer, threats to kill, and evasion of administrative supervision. One of the verdicts stated that he was diagnosed with “alcohol addiction syndrome” and “organic personality disorder,” Mediazona writes.
