The occupying Kyiv District Court of Simferopol continued the detention of four Crimean Tatar women detained after mass searches on October 15, sending them to the pretrial detention center for at least two months.
This was reported to Crimean Solidarity by lawyer Emil Kurbedinov.
We are talking about Esma Nimetulaeva, Nasiba Saidova, Elviza Aliyeva and Fevzia Osmanova, whose cases were considered behind closed doors without access to relatives and the public, despite the public outcry and support from the Crimean Tatar community near the courthouse.
The defense called the decision repressive and unfounded, emphasizing the lack of evidence of the risks cited by the FSB, in particular “intentions to flee” or “obstructing the investigation”.
The detention took place at dawn on October 15 after simultaneous raids by security forces in the Bakhchysaray and Sevastopol districts – this is the first “women’s case” in Crimea under Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for alleged involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, an organization that is banned in Russia but legal in Ukraine and a number of other countries.
Among the detainees are the mother of five children and the wife of political prisoner Remzi Nimetulaeva Esma Nimetulaeva, student-teacher Nasiba Saidova, 20-year-old cashier Elviza Aliyeva and 21-year-old Fevzia Osmanova.
Human rights activists and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine emphasize that the persecution of women is part of the systematic practice of pressure on the Crimean Tatars, which violates the norms of international humanitarian law, in particular the IV Geneva Convention.
Lawyers Emil Kurbedinov and Edem Semedlyaev stated that during the hearings, the investigation repeated standard formulas without presenting convincing evidence, while the defendants were held in degrading conditions and were effectively deprived of the right to a public trial.
Relatives and representatives of the community were pushed back by the police and riot police, units of the Rosgvardia were on duty around the court — the pressure on those present was explained as “maintaining order.”
“Crimean Solidarity” emphasizes that the isolation of the process and the demonstrative image of force are designed to intimidate Crimean Muslims and break horizontal ties of support.
We will remind you that the average level of reservoirs in the temporarily occupied Crimea does not exceed 50%.
Also, in the morning of October 29, explosions occurred in the temporarily occupied Crimea, as a result of which fires started.
