On January 19, at 12:09, rescuers received a report of a fire in a cafe on Kharkivska Street in Sumy.
“Visitors and service personnel of the establishment left the dangerous area on their own. The fire took place in the kitchen. Heavy smoke quickly spread over two floors of the commercial premises,” the State Emergency Service said.
Firefighters had to work in apparatus for respiratory protection. The rescuers took the oxygen cylinders out of the burning room in time and prevented them from exploding.
The fire was contained at 12:54 p.m., and extinguished at 2:22 p.m.
“As a result of the incident, a person born in 2008 was injured. According to preliminary information, the fire probably started due to depressurization of the gas cylinder, which led to further burning,” the State Emergency Service said.
