The 78th Separate Airborne Assault Regiment of the 7th Airborne Assault Corps (ASF) has announced its expansion to a brigade.

The regiment has been developing since February 2022, having started its journey as a separate training and combat unit within the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense. In May 2023, it was reformed into the 78th Regiment of Airborne Assault Troops.
Most of the regiment’s soldiers are volunteers who joined the army at the start of a full-scale invasion. Among them are representatives of the following units and groups: “Kayfariks”, “Avangard”, “Molot”, “Seneka”, “Karpatska Sich” (T. Deyaka), “Safari”, 131st battalion of the TrO, “Dyke Pole”, 10th OGSHBr, 128th OGSHBr.
Fighters of the regiment took part in key operations:

Liberation operations on Kyiv regionin particular in the battles near Moschuna.

Landing on Energodar and actions on Zmiiny Island.

Battles in Zaporozhye and Khersonskaya regions

Combat operations on Daughters — near Mayorsk, Lyman, Yampol and Kreminnaya.

For courage and bravery, on November 8, 2025, the regiment received an honorary award “For courage and bravery”.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have completed the transition to a corps structure, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr said Syrian .
By the end of 2025, Ukraine plans to form the Cyber Forces Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. While active hostilities continue, the army switches to a corps control system, rotates brigades and restores the combat capability of units.
