Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, in cooperation with the internal security of the State Border Service, detained a border guard inspector who demanded $5,000 for “assistance” in the employment of an acquaintance of the rear unit.

According to the investigation, the inspector was approached by an acquaintance with a request to assist in passing the service in border units, preferably away from the area of hostilities. The law enforcement officer agreed to “help”, but immediately named the price – 5 thousand US dollars.
For this money, he promised to “order a word” in front of the unit’s leadership and guarantee service in the desired place.
The inspector did not inform that the mobilization to the border units is free of charge and is no different from the mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In fact, he gave only general recommendations on the preparation of documents, after which he expected a legal draft of his acquaintance, demanding at the same time to hand over the promised amount to him.
The police caught the inspector red-handed while receiving money.
He was informed of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – receiving an unlawful benefit for oneself for influencing the decision-making by a person authorized to perform state functions. The sanction of the article provides up to 5 years of imprisonment.
Procedural management is carried out by the Dnipro specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Eastern region.
It will be recalled that the employees of the State Bureau of Investigation exposed the deputy commander of one of the military units of the Lviv region, who used subordinate servicemen for his own purposes.
The SBI also suspects the ex-head of the Ministry of Defense department of losses of UAH 322 million.
