Coach of the Ukrainian national tennis team Oleksandr Tomarev has been abroad for almost a year, Tribuna.com reports.

According to the source, the specialist left Ukraine as the head of the delegation to the Australian Open on January 6, 2024 and has not returned to his homeland since then. The last time Tomarev was part of the national team was in May of the same year.

It is interesting that in October 2024 at the WTA tournament in Wuhan, Oleksandr was in the team of a Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkinawhich acts under a neutral flag.

The irony of the situation is that when the Ministry of Youth and Sports issued Tomarev permission to leave, it appointed him responsible for ensuring the participation of athletes and for return of the delegation to Ukraine.

At the moment, the Ministry of Sport has limited itself to a very concise comment on this situation:

“Members of the delegation, who went abroad in accordance with personal receipts for returning to Ukraine, returned to Ukraine. The necessary reports and conclusions based on the results of participation in the competition were provided on time.”

According to available information, Oleksandr is currently in the USA, where he is actively interested in various financial assistance programs for refugees.
