For this largest dinner, 150 kilograms of kuti and 5 thousand dumplings were prepared.
The largest Christmas dinner in Ukraine was held in Kyiv for families who adopted a child into their family.
Almost 500 participants gathered around the 120-meter Christmas table – guardians, caregivers and foster families from different regions of Ukraine. For this largest dinner, 150 kilograms of kuti and 5,000 dumplings were prepared – that’s a few days of work by forty chefs of the “Mafia” restaurants and the corporate dinner company “Razom”.
100 Christmas trees were brought to the location, 2 kilometers of lights were used, and more than 400 embroidered items were presented to the children. And to bring them to Kyiv, 10 wagons of Ukrzaliznytsia were needed.
MONATIK, KOLA, DZIDZIO, Marta Adamchuk, TVORCHI, Yevhen Khmara, Tarabarova, Sofia Nersesyan performed on stage. Minister of Labor and Social Policy Denys Ulyutin, head of UNICEF Munir Mamedzadeh, actors Olga Sumska, Daria Petrozhytska, Andriy Isayenko, Anastasia Tsimbalaru, Hanna Birzul, Yana Glushchenko, Olympic champion Yuliya Bakastova, designers Alina Kachorovska and Ivan Frolov, chefs Yevhen Klopotenko and Alik Mkrtchyan, dancer also talked with the families at the festive table. Yevhen Kot, singers Alyona Omargalieva, Tayanna and Khayat, entrepreneur and philanthropist Khrystyna Hranovska.
The event was organized on the initiative of the Kateryna Osadchai Foundation with the assistance of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Coordination Center for the Development of Family Education and Child Care.
Families came to the dinner from Transcarpathia, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv region, Mykolaiv region and other regions, where the Kateryna Osadchai Foundation, together with its partners, systematically works on the development of family forms of upbringing, supports families that have already adopted children, or are just preparing to take this step.
The founder of the Kateryna Osadchai Foundation, Kateryna Osadcha, addressing the participants of the event, emphasized that this evening is primarily about people and simple values:
“Family Christmas for every child is about warmth, acceptance and a sense of home. We wanted to create a space where families who have already changed the lives of children will feel supported, and those who are only thinking about this path will see that they are not alone. We believe that thanks to such public attention, at least one child will be able to find loving parents,” she said.
The event became a space of trust, support and acceptance – an environment where families could communicate with each other, share their own experiences, challenges and at the same time the happiness that comes with the responsibility of being a family for a child.
“Christmas teaches us the most important thing – to value family. At this big table, we revive this tradition, uniting families from all over Ukraine. I sincerely thank the adoptive parents, guardians, caregivers for the love and care you share with children. It is these shared memories that shape their values for life,” said Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Ulyutin
During the evening, the participants had the opportunity to communicate with famous Ukrainian artists, sportsmen and public figures, join the celebration of Ukrainian Christmas traditions, master classes and try traditional Christmas dishes.
The culmination of the event was the largest joint caroling with the participation of foster parents, guardians, children and star guests – as a symbol of unity and joint celebration of Christmas in the family circle.
