Cagliari cruised to a convincing 4-0 win over Hellas Verona in their Serie A fixture to move comfortably into mid-table. The culmination of the match was a spectacular goal by Semih Kylichsoy with a scissors kick.

The match was of great tournament importance, because before the start of the tour, Verona shared the last place with Pisa, while the Sardinians came into the game on the back of two consecutive victories over Juventus and Fiorentina. Both teams had staffing problems due to injuries to key players.

The first serious chance was created by Luca Mazzitelli, forcing the visiting goalkeeper Simone Perilli to save the team after a free kick. Afterwards, it was Mazzitelli who opened the score: after the active actions of Marco Palestra and a spectacular transfer with the heel from Adam Obert, the midfielder accurately shot into the near corner.

Cagliari doubled their lead soon after. After Sebastiano Esposito’s corner kick, Semih Kylichsoy sent the ball into the net with a shot over himself. The goal was initially disallowed for offside, but after a VAR review, the goal was awarded.

The situation for Verona became even more complicated after the removal of Amin Sarr, who received a second yellow card for careless fouls. Playing in the minority, the guests lost confidence and could no longer contain the pressure of the hosts.

In the second half, Cagliari brought the score to a crushing level. First, Ibrahim Sulemana played successfully in the finish after the goalkeeper’s save, and in the last minute, Riyad Idrissi closed Gabriele Zappa’s pass, setting the final score — 4:0.
