“I’m very disappointed. The last minute of the game was very difficult, we worked very hard in the second half to get back into the game and to concede a goal at the end of the match was very unfortunate. I felt that I was blocked, but the referee and VAR did not take it into account. I can stand here and say that it should not have happened, but it happened and what is, is,” said van Dijk.
“The first goal was difficult to judge, the wind was very important, so it was difficult. To concede a goal like that is not a problem, but it is not good. To concede two goals in a short period of time is not good at all. The goal we scored in the first half was very important for the momentum in the second half.”
“It’s easy to say after the game that somebody should have done that, somebody else, but we decided to keep the ball and in the end they took it away. It’s never nice to lose, especially as a Liverpool player. We’re trying to find consistency this season.”
“That’s what we’re dealing with and we want to play and win matches.”
This loss against Bournemouth extended Liverpool’s five-game winless run in the Premier League.
