A 4-1 win over Barnsley in the FA Cup boosted confidence, while the return of Hugo Ekitike from injury expands attacking options. At Anfield, the Merseysiders traditionally impose a high tempo and will try to break the opponent’s defense as early as possible.

For Burnley, the season is much more difficult. Scott Parker’s side are without a win in the league for 12 games in a row and are in 19th position, eight points adrift of safety. A 2-2 draw with Manchester United in the previous round was a rare positive signal, but the overall picture remains worrying.

“Bordeaux” are often forced to defend deep, especially on the road, where the problems with the organization of the defense are most acute. A 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in September only continued a run of bad luck against this opposition. A 5-1 win over Millwall in the FA Cup showed Burnley’s attacking potential, but the level of Premier League intensity remains a major challenge for the visitors.
