The “royal club” is concerned about the situation in defense due to injuries and possible personnel losses in the near future.
According to a source, Madrid were exploring the possibility of signing Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, Bayern Munich’s Dayo Upamecano and Crystal Palace’s Mark Gea, but Real Madrid ultimately rejected those options.
Instead, the club is interested in two other defenders: Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund and Jeremy Jaquet from Rennes. The German centre-back is under contract until 2027 and has yet to extend his deal with Borussia, which could ease his potential move. Frenchman Jacque, in turn, caught the attention of Real Madrid scouts with performances for Rennes and the French youth team, although his contract runs until 2029.
Also, Real does not forget about its own academy. The progress of Castilla’s Juan Martinez and Como’s Jacobo Ramon are being closely monitored at the club. The latter’s contract includes a buyback option for approximately 8 million euros already next summer.
