The England international will soon celebrate his fifth anniversary at Milan and has re-established himself in the starting line-up after a few difficult seasons.
In an interview with BBC Sport, Tomori confirmed his recent contact with England manager Thomas Tuchel and shared his expectations for the upcoming World Cup:
“Do I want to go to the World Cup? Of course. I want it for myself and I know that winning Serie A will help. I spoke to Tuchel after the last international break. We discussed that I have to keep doing what I’m doing now.”
Tomori acknowledges the competition in his position, but is encouraged that Tuchel is keeping a close eye on Milan’s performances.
“The World Cup is still six months away, there are a lot of games to go. I know he’s watching us because he called up Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It gives me confidence that I can get there too.”
The defender noted that Tuchel regularly receives Milan’s data and videos to evaluate his game. Despite strong competition for the central defender position, Tomori is confident of his goal:
“The World Cup is my dream and I work for it every day.”
This season, Tomori played for Milan in 17 matches — he provided three assists.
