According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old forward faced complications during the final stage of rehabilitation after knee surgery. Havertz has been sidelined since August when he was injured in the first round of the Premier League against Manchester United.
After a successful surgical manipulation, his recovery was on schedule, and he was supposed to return to the lineup in December. However, during the last training sessions last month, an unfortunate incident occurred – the knee made itself felt again just when Kai was one step away from being called up for the match.
The medical staff is now acting as cautiously as possible to avoid another relapse. The most realistic scenario is for Havertz to return for the FA Cup 3rd round match against Portsmouth on January 11. There is a minimal chance of his appearance in the match against Liverpool on January 8, but the coaching staff is unlikely to risk the player’s health in such an intense game.
For Kai Havertz, 2025 is shaping up to be an extremely bad year so far, with a hamstring injury in February and a current knee problem missing most of his playing time, which has significantly hampered his career in London.
