Real Oviedo officially announced the appointment of Guillermo Almada as the head coach of the first team. This was reported by the press service of the club.

The 59-year-old Uruguayan joined from Real Valladolid after the clubs reached an agreement on the transfer of coaching rights. Almada’s contract with Real Oviedo runs until the end of the current season.

In the current campaign, Almada has been working with Real Valladolid, who under his leadership have played 18 matches in Segunda and finished 10th in the league table. Previously, the coach led Pachuca, with whom he won the CONCACAF Champions League in the 2023/24 season, and also has successful experience in Mexico, Ecuador and Uruguay.

His assistant Darwin Quintana arrived in Oviedo with Almada. The first training day of the new coach is scheduled for Tuesday, and the official presentation will take place in the coming days.

It should be noted that Almada became the third head coach of Real Oviedo in the current season after Veljko Paunović and Luis Carrion. The team is currently in 19th position in the La Liga standings with 10 points.
