After the end of the game, the head coach of “miners” Arda Turan commented on the performance of his own team.
“I want to congratulate my players – a great, just fantastic game by them! A well-deserved result in my opinion. When they deserve praise, we have to praise them, so today I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for this match.
Analyzing the game, from the first to the 90th minute we were in full control of the course of events, everything happened as planned, preparing for this confrontation. This applies both to the behavior on the field, and to the desire, thirst for results and to follow the instructions that I gave them, starting from pre-match training.
We will also analyze this game in terms of how certain details could influence the result. However, I am completely satisfied with today’s match and want to once again sincerely congratulate my football players.
It is important to emphasize that Shakhtar had many incredible coaches before my arrival: both Marino Pushych and other specialists who worked before my arrival in the team. Shakhtar was already famous for its football culture at all levels – this is the president of the club Rinat Akhmetov, and also the work performed by the general director Serhiy Palkin, I can also note the work performed by Dario Srna.
This is a system that was built in more than one year and has been producing results for many, many seasons in a row. For my part, I have to preserve this culture and multiply the details that shape the overall success of the team.
If we look specifically at our plans, it is to strengthen our defense to concede even fewer goals and score even more goals when we attack. Analyzing the six months of my work that I spent in Ukraine, I think that we really managed to do a pretty good job of improving the details.
Of course, there is still a lot of work to do, but I am already very pleased with how some of the performers have progressed. Despite all the difficult circumstances that surrounded us, despite the tiring journey, despite the long season both from a physical and mental point of view, I am glad that my players did not break down, but, on the contrary, accepted such challenges with the right reaction.
I know the value of words, so I try never to scatter them. And for my career as a player and a coach, today I said probably the most sincere wishes. What the words can be depends on the individual situation. In our team, I always emphasize to all football players that they are my friends and brothers. And even if I can be aggressive and very emotional on the bench, it never carries over to our personal communication.
And always after the matches, when there is such an opportunity, I can have dinner, breakfast, lunch with them or just chat about some topics. Because I believe that a football career will end one day, but good and pleasant relations should remain with all those with whom you share your path.
As for personal examples, I still keep in touch with Neymar, my partner at Barcelona. And there are many such examples. That’s why I always emphasize to the players that even when I’m angry somewhere, it’s only to convey my emotion to them and charge them for the game. First of all, they are my friends and brothers.
As I emphasized earlier, Ukrainians are truly fantastic specialists on the coaching bridge. I don’t want to go back to the topic of LNZ, but I can’t help but mention their fantastic performance this season. And the main coach deserves a lot of credit for this.
Yesterday I watched the LNZ match and was really surprised by how much they were charged to fight and achieve a result. Therefore, directly they and other teams deserve my great respect.
I can also apply this to the head coaches of Polissia, Dynamo and other Ukrainian specialists. And in general, analyzing the championship, I am really glad to be here and sincerely hope that over time Ukrainian stadiums will again be able to fill up and gather thousands of fans at their matches, because this is what the Ukrainian championship and the Ukrainian people really deserve.
And I also really appreciate the efforts and efforts made by people in Ukraine and directly involved in sports competitions, who try to create the best conditions for matches. No matter where we go, we are surrounded by quality fields. And in general, I appreciate the way people try to organize all football-related moments.
As for our European path, perhaps it did not meet the goals or our expectations, but I am inclined to the fact that one should build a European campaign step by step, according to the principle that one should not be in too much of a hurry to fulfill one’s desires.
