Chelsea failed to hold on to a lead in Bergamo and were beaten 2-1 by Atalanta in a key Champions League tie. Enzo Maresca’s team dropped out of the top eight and made it difficult for them to reach the playoffs.

The Londoners opened the scoring in the first half – Juan Pedro locked in an accurate cross from Rhys James. But after the break, the hosts seized the initiative. In the 55th minute, Gianluca Scamakka equalized after De Ketelare’s pass.

At the end of the meeting, “blue” again lacked density in defense: Charles De Quetelare, who had a brilliant match, got space in front of the penalty area and shot past Sanchez — 2:1.

In stoppage time, Carnesecchi saved Atalanta from a second goal by Joao Pedro. In this way, the Italians rose to third place, and Chelsea risks losing a direct ticket to the 1/8 finals.
