After Inter Miami won the long-awaited MLS Cup, fans’ attention turned to personnel matters, namely the future of Luis Suarez.

The legendary Uruguayan, who was reunited in Florida with Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, played a key role in the championship season, but his current deal is coming to an end.

In an interview with Goal, the general director of the club, Xavier Asensi, clearly outlined the management’s position: the decision to continue his career depends entirely on the 38-year-old striker himself. Despite chronic knee problems that plague the forward, his impact on the team’s game is hard to overestimate.

“Luis has earned the right to decide his own destiny. We will be happy if he stays, but it all depends on how he feels physically and what he wants next,” the Herons management made it clear.

Suarez himself has not yet given a final answer, enjoying the celebration of the title. However, the opportunity to defend the trophy and compete in the Club World Cup could be a strong argument for El Pistolero to stay in the game for another season.
