On the eve of the game, UPL rookie midfielder Denis Yanakov talked to the club press about the team’s preparation for the game.
“Unfortunately, I didn’t play in all of the 12 starting matches of the championship. I didn’t even start once. That’s why it’s a difficult period in my career, but this happens in the life of football players. You need to work harder and wait for your chance and the coach’s trust.
We had a good sparring session during the break in the national team match and I really had two good chances that I didn’t convert. I repeatedly scrolled through my head, how it was possible to play differently, but… I will say this – the goalkeeper of Dynamo receives a salary for a reason, and in those two episodes he was the best. And I was somehow let down by the performance in those moments. The main thing is to use such chances in official matches.
We are working according to the plan of the coaching staff: in addition to sparring with Dynamo, there were also intensive training sessions, a lot of things were recorded. For us, every match is important, we always want to play brightly and win. Therefore, nothing special – we are preparing from game to game.
Yes, Polissya is not a foreign club for me. I have many good memories, pleasant moments. I can’t say that the game against Polissia is fundamental for me, but the motivation will be double, or even triple.
First of all, because this is a team that is fighting for the highest places. Secondly, I spent a lot of time in this team and I want to prove myself in the game against my former club.
The fact that they are in third place, and we are in 13th, may have a psychological effect somewhere. But, if you look at the standings, the difference between the 13th and, for example, the eighth place is only nine points. This is not such a big difference. We have such a championship that many teams are breathing down each other’s necks, so it will be interesting. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season,” said the Ukrainian performer.
