When Guardiola was asked at the press conference if he knew much about Job, he puzzled those present with the answer.
“No… I didn’t know him before,” said the coach, hinting that he heard about the player only after his transfer to the Dortmund club.
This statement seems strange given that Jobe Bellingham is regarded as one of the great talents and his €30 million move from Sunderland to Borussia was quite a sensation.
As well as discussing the opposition, Guardiola also explained his unusual decision to give City’s players a full day off just 24 hours before the crucial Champions League match. The coach canceled training, explaining that at this stage of the season, mental and physical rest for his players is more important than additional training.
Instead, the team will practice on the morning of the game. Erling Holland was the only player to appear on the field, but only to fulfill his obligations to the media.
