Enzo Maresca has revealed the reason behind key midfielder Enzo Fernandez’s absence from the squad for the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest. The Argentinian missed the trip to the City Ground due to inflammation in his knee, which was the reason for his early departure from the national team camp.

​Even before the match, the participation of Fernandez, as well as Moises Caicedo and Pedro Neto, was in question, as they missed training on Thursday. As a result, Fernandez did not get into the team, and Caicedo remained on the bench.

​”It’s not a big concern,” Maresca said before the game in commentary for TNT Sports. “He’s out because of a problem, because of an injury, and hopefully he can come back very soon.”

The absence of Fernandes added to the problems of the London club, which is already suffering from a large number of injured players. In particular, it became known earlier that attacking midfielder Cole Palmer was out for another six weeks due to groin problems.
