Manchester City defender and England, John Stonez, said he was thinking about completing his career as a continuous injury.

“Last season, it was very difficult for me – so much that I was thinking about stopping. I didn’t want to do it. I was just tired of being professional, trying to do everything right, and then again to get injuries and not have answers why it was happening. It was a very difficult situation.

There is a moment when you don’t understand why it happens. And even more difficult when you make so much effort, you try to be as professional as possible to play and be ready. It would be easier if it was possible to say, “I did not do that, that’s the problem.” But when you do everything right, and it happens equally, it is psychologically difficult. I hope I no longer have to worry the same.

Emotions were on the verge then. I didn’t think soberly. I would probably never have done it deep in my soul, I would not have completed my career. When a few years ago, City wanted me to find a new challenge, I said, “I will fight.” It’s all I know since childhood, why do I stop now? I still have this morale and mentality of the winner who does not allow you to stop, ” – says Stoneza BBC Sport.

Last season, Stonez spent 20 matches with three balls and gave two assistants. This season he played six matches.
