Dynamo midfielder Volodymyr Shepelev commented on his departure from the Kyiv club.

“During these eight years there were everything – both good memories and not so good. First of all, I managed to win everything possible in Ukraine as part of Dynamo – I became the champion, won the Cup and the Super Cup of the country. In the last four years, I I didn’t play much – sometimes I got injured, then I lost the competition, so now I decided to change something in my career and move on, try to play in another team.

I remain on good terms with everyone at Dynamo. I wish everyone only success, in particular in the championship of Ukraine. I decided for myself that it would be right if I left. In addition, there are many young players in the team… And for me it will be like a step forward, I want to try something new for myself. I don’t want to just sit on the bench and watch football from the sidelines. I’m ambitious, I want to play, and that’s the most important thing for me right now.

As for the performances at Dynamo, I am very happy that I have something to remember. I wish the boys success, I will always support the team and watch their matches when I have the opportunity.

I remember when I first came to the Dinamo school. At that time, players with higher speed were mostly selected, but I was never fast. But Pavlo Mykolayovych Kikot believed in me and kept me in his group. I developed, won the championship of Ukraine as part of the team, later became the winner of the U-19 and U-21 championships. That is, my path to the first team was difficult, but at the same time gradual and interesting.

If we go back even earlier, to my childhood years, when I first enrolled in the football section in my native Odesa, I did not think at all that I would become a professional football player. We always got together with dad and his friends, watched matches of the championship of Ukraine, and I could not even imagine that I would play there, win something in my career. At the same time, the decision to start a career as a football player was not spontaneous. I understood that everything depends only on you – first of all, on your work, the fate of the fart must also be present.

The most vivid memories for Dynamo? Undoubtedly, this is a treble win in Ukraine, when we became champions and holders of the Cup and Super Cup of the country. Also the victory over Shakhtar in the match for the Super Cup, when we were behind, but turned the tide of the game. The atmosphere that prevailed in the stands when the stadiums were full is mentioned. Now, unfortunately, it’s not the same feeling anymore – the war, it’s hard for everyone, and, frankly, not for football. But before the war, people went to football, and actually the feeling is simply incredible. Words simply cannot describe them – you need to experience it yourself. Of course, we really want the war to end as soon as possible, people to return to normal peaceful life, visit stadiums and cheer for their favorite team.

I had a conversation with the head coach. He frankly told me that there are many young players in the team and that the club is ready to consider options for continuing my career at another club. I understood everything and my agent started working on this matter. There was also a conversation with Igor Mykhailovych Surkis. He told me that I could train with the team since I still had a year left on my contract, get paid, maybe be a rotation player, and in six months I would be released. But I said I wanted to play, not just get paid. The president came to meet me, I am grateful to him for understanding and solving this situation.

I am 27 years old and I want to try myself somewhere else – find a good option and continue to play at a high level. At Dynamo, I realized for myself that the moment has come when I need to say goodbye and move on, and I don’t want to take the place of a young player knocking on the door of the first team.

We are parting on good terms, we have agreed on everything. I will continue to support Dynamo, and there can be no resentment. We were always honest, I made concessions, they made concessions to me. Yes, there were injuries, because of which I did not play, there were certain moments, but now it is exclusively my decision, and I want to try something new for myself,” the press service of the club quotes Shepelev as saying.

The 27-year-old Ukrainian is a pupil of the “White and Blue” and has spent his entire career so far in Dynamo. He has 229 matches, seven goals and 19 assists.

In the current season, Shepelev played one match in which he played only one minute.
