Liverpool head coach Arne Slott spoke ahead of the match against Nottingham Forest, which handed the Merseysiders their only defeat in the league this season.

“I’ve always said that the best way to judge the table is midway through the season. They’re on par with the rest, so they’re definitely a team that can compete with us and other clubs.

If you look at their game and results, it is deserved. It will be a very difficult test for us to achieve the result.

Liverpool’s defeat at home was a surprise. It was hard for us to accept the loss that day. Now, when you look back and see where they are in the league, it’s not as shocking a result as it seemed at the time.

They had a good game plan and I expect their wingers, who performed so well, to start tomorrow,” Slott said.
